Better Public Speaking – Freezing is Not an Option.
by Harry Freedman
You’ve been asked to make a speech by your boss, and you are terrified. And try as you may, you can’t help but visualize the audience ignoring you during your speech and averting your eyes when you’re done.
Because even though you have plenty of confidence in your topic, you don’t have a clue how to go in front of a crowd without freezing or droning on. But freezing is not an option. This is too important. Your career is literally at stake. If only there was some way to make this work.
My name is Harry Freedman, and I’ve helped thousands of speakers get over their fears and I can help you too. But it’s going to take a level of commitment unlike anything you’ve ever done before. Because public speaking IS scary, so to break through your fears, you need to do something in real life that’s even more terrifying.
So, the first thing I do with a timid speaker is to make them run out onto the field at a major league baseball game and disrupt the action. I have helped dozens of nervous Nellie’s turn their lives around with just a single arrest at a big league game. You see, it takes a lot of guts to jump onto that field and run from the law, so it’s kind of like riding a bull. The longer you stay up, the higher your score.
But when you do finally get cuffed, hauled off the field, and make that one phone call from prison, you will do so with a confidence you never had before. So, the next time you see a spectator stop the action at a ballgame, and think he’s a nut – think again. He might just be a very shy person getting ready for a big speech.
