Every comedian has a story about the first time they did the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. People wonder what it’s like? They ask, did Johnny say anything afterwards? And were you freaked out and so forth? It’s scary, he ignored me but I got back on a lot, and I’m still freaked out.
I remember that night as one of the 2 most defining moments of my life. You’d think the other one was when my son was born, but no. The other was when I got called up to the stage to dance with Bruce Springsteen at The Meadowlands. Everybody in the audience laughed so hard that Bruce got embarrassed and stopped the show. He then kicked out the entire crowd. All 50,000 of them. He screamed at me for an hour about how I ruined his show and banned me from his concerts. I very much regret that but I have since taken dance lessons at Arthur Murray. If I ever get a second chance from Bruce, I’ll be able to do a good Foxtrot.
Anyway, here’s what it was like for me doing Johnny Carson for the very first time.
If you want to see me perform comedy now, I work as a clean corporate comedian, a funny fake motivational speaker, and I still do standup.
